what's the easiest way to find the turning point of a quadratic?

Hey Taylor!

Great question. There are a few ways to find the TP of a quadratic, and the 'easiest' way depends on what your quadratic rule looks like to begin with.

There are three forms that your rule can take: 1) General form, 2) Factorised form, and 3) Turning Point form. Please see below the easiest way to find the TP for each of the forms!

Physics 1/2 – Amplitude of a wave

How do you find the amplitude of a wave? Does it start from the middle to the top or the middle to the bottom?

Hey Opal,

Either!! The amplitude of a wave is "the distance from the middle of a wave to the top of the crest, or to the bottom of the trough". So, you can find the amplitude using either of the two methods you described - you'll find they're the same value.

How do we find the period of a tan graph? Like y = 3tan(2x) for example

Hi! There’s a formula to get the period of a tan graph: it’s pi/b, where b is the coefficient of x in the equation.

So, in your example, b would be 2 (it’s in front of x), so the period of that graph would be pi/2.
